David Spindler, LMT

David's Personal Introduction:

"In 2005, while I was living in Marin County I worked at Marin General Hospital for the Institute of Health and Healing under the guidance of Pat Morgan. There I was given the wonderful challenge of working with ill patients and their families one day per week. I’d spend most of my time in the cancer ward working very gently with both patients and family members. I would always spend some time with the staff as well, as they all work so tirelessly to make the patients as comfortable as possible.

When working with patients in this environment I use only the gentlest of techniques. Often keeping the work to the extremities of the body, as that seems to bring the greatest relief to the patient in the least invasive manner.

As for working with people in normal health, I use several modalities in conjunction with one another to achieve the results I am looking for.  I use a combination of deep tissue strokes, active and passive stretching, and trigger point release as assessment tools to determine strategy for using the more advanced techniques of a modality called neuromuscular reprogramming (NMR). NMR is detailed and thorough structural bodywork that incorporates specific muscle testing to determine imbalances in coordination and techniques to correct dysfunctional coordination patterns at their source.  It acts as a form of kinesthetic (physical) conversation with the body that imprints new information in the motor control center of the brain. I use all these techniques in combination to get effective, lasting results from damage created by trauma, injury, surgery or repetitive strain issues. .  I have also found it to be the perfect adjunct to chiropractic and sports injury care. My focus tends to be on an older population, because of the apparent need for that population to maintain flexibility and mobility.

I live and work in Solvang now, and look forward to the opportunity to share my skills and learn more with you"
